Why this guide for the best right angle drill
Having a right angle drill in your arsenal of tools can help you do work in tight and often hard to get to places.

Let’s face it, there are just some things your standard drill will struggle to do.
Finding the best right angle drill can often leave one scratching their head in confusion. Making it difficult to choose the best one.
However - No need to worry.
I have done all the hard work. I have scraped through online catalogs, read tons of datasheets and have compiled a robust list of the best right angle drill just for you.

What are the important features for the best right angle drill
Weight
When working with this tool, weight is an important factor.
This is because you will often be drilling in unorthodox positions. This will require you to support the drill with only the weight of your hands and forearms.
Great weight is usually between 2 - 3.5 pounds.
From my experience. A few more ounces or grams can make for an uncomfortable drilling experience and increased overall fatigue and reduced productivity.
All the drills in this review are optimally sized in terms of weight. So you do not need to worry about this in this guide.
Torque and speed
Typically right angle drills have various torque and speed measurements. From my experience a drill with an RPM range of 300 - 1200 will generally work for most household, carpentry or DIY applications.
Variable Drive
Most of these tools come with a three step torque motor. What this means is that they are variable speed devices and can offer variable speed triggers to increase or decrease the effects of torque.
Ultimately giving you more control.
In my search – I made sure to include in this guide only the right angle drills that offer you the most control and stability. Also whilst optimizing efficiency of the drill and power.

Battery Capacity and Power
Most right angle drills are cordless. Although some heavy duty drills do provide corded options. From what I have seen the cordless options have really improved over the past couple of years, and they are able to provide consistent torque per drill throughout.
What to avoid when looking for the best right angle drill
Start up brands
Generally this goes without saying, but in the power tool world – experience is everything.
The reason I say this is because, verified brands such as Milwaukee and DE Walt. Can offer you good warranty periods (usually up to 3 years).
This reduces your risk of ownership. Also if your tool ever does need to be repaired, these established companies have a network of people across various states and countries that are experienced in fixing their tools.
Trust me on this.
It was the biggest thing I saw whilst undertaking research for this guide. So many people went for cheaper less established brands are they are now regretting that decision.
In this guide every one of the 5 are established brands. So which ever you pick you can rest assured that you are getting the best.
Does not have variable speed options
Speed control is important. Without this – your tool becomes a very difficult tool to use. Reason being when using this tool in tight spaces, most of the time it is difficult to use your bodies leverage. The only thing you have is the variability of the torque/speed.
Difficult to handle
Although this is not so common anymore, it is definitely worth mentioning.
You cannot believe how some manufacturers create tools that are not comfortable to handle.
At a minimum, your right angle drill should have some form of polyurethane (hard plastic) grip. Together with an easy trigger point.
