I have always been one to consider where my work boots were made, hence I created this guide to share the interesting things that I discovered. We all know that work boots need to be durable, comfortable to wear and able to provide firm protection whilst you are working.

However very few of us will be able to determine, where they are actually made. In this guide I break down the history of a couple of the top options and I also focus on the top work shoe producing countries. Enjoy!

Top Brands And Their Manufacturing Base

Red Wing Shoes

Founded in 1905 in Red Wing, Minnesota, Red Wing Shoes is one of the oldest and most well-known work boot manufacturers in the world. 

What I really like about this shoe is it’s global reach. Today, Red Wing Shoes operates two manufacturing facilities in the United States, one in Red Wing, Minnesota, and another in Potosi, Missouri.

The Red Wing, Minnesota plant is the company's primary manufacturing facility, where the iconic Red Wing work boots have been made for over a century.

The facility is home to over 500 skilled craftsmen and women who use a combination of traditional and modern techniques to create durable and comfortable work boots.

The Potosi, Missouri plant, which opened in 1998, specializes in making Red Wing's Irish Setter brand of hunting and outdoor footwear.

This brand dates back to 1883 in Rockford, Michigan. Just like Red Wing Wolverine is another American work boot manufacturer. This company has a wide network as well.

Wolverine operates several manufacturing facilities in the United States, including two in Michigan and one in Arkansas. The company's Big Rapids, Michigan plant is the largest, with over 600 employees the last I checked who produce a wide range of Wolverine work boots and outdoor footwear.

The Rockford, Michigan plant specializes in making the company's heritage boots, which are known for their classic style and durability. The Batesville, Arkansas facility produces Wolverine's DuraShocks line of work boots, which are designed to provide maximum comfort and shock absorption.

Timberland

In addition to its original factory in England, Dr. Martens also has manufacturing facilities in Asia. Georgia Boot

This was quite an interesting shoe brand to come across and I was surprised because I had never heard of them, yet they provide really high quality shoes.

The Danner brand is America through and through founded in 1932 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Their range includes hiking boots, but they also offer a range of work boots that are designed for durability and comfort.

Danner has two manufacturing facilities in the United States. The company's factory in Portland, Oregon produces its work boots, while its factory in St. Charles, Missouri produces its hiking boots.
